Sopot - Renew & Rejuvenate in Poland’s Spa Town!

While nearly every Polish city has some amount of Old World charm, Sopot has set the bar for tastefully weaving a vibrant new path that enhances its history without leaning on it. Outrageously creative dramas and Polish classics unfold upon stages seamlessly shifting between the past and the future. The latest dance tracks thump in the distance while accordion keys are manipulated with blinding speed just across the street. Atop the hill, a picturesque church and stately hotels welcome visitors with a touch of class, while down on the beach, the tri-city’s youth welcomes you with the clink of a glass! You get the idea: Sopot is where you feel alive!

Our tour is designed to enhance your time in Sopot by providing you with three things: an appreciation for the cities history and cultural highlights; a nice stroll along scenic streets and sandy beaches; and a glimpse at some of the attractions that are sure to draw you back once the tour has ended!

The tour focuses on Sopot’s main nerve, Bohaterow Monte Cassino Street, which runs perpendicular to the charming Baltic Coast. It’s here that you’ll find the lion’s share of galleries, restaurants, theaters, and of course people! Named in reference to the Polish Heroes of a battle in the Second World War, this street is de facto closed to cars, as it’s constantly clogged with pedestrians making their way down to the water or up to the train station. Some notable items sure to be discussed are St. George’s Church and the Krzywy Dom. Designed by Kaiser Wilhelm II, St. George’s comparatively short history has been filled with the stories and sorrows of the 20th century. However, unlike many of Gdansk’s Christian edifices, this building is in surprisingly good shape and has improved upon its original beauty. The Krzywy Dom, meanwhile, awaits those with a taste for the strange and twisted. Literally. The wavy walls and slippery slopes of this thriving business center remind us of something torn from the pages of a fairy tale, and it’s certain that after a sampling of Polish vodka, many a young lad or lass has been tricked into believing it were so.

Eventually, Monte Cassino runs strait into the sea, as the Sopot Pier extends its reach over the water. This wooden pier is the Baltic’s longest and provides visitors with a perfect summer stroll. Just be sure to grab some ice cream from one of the ubiquitous ‘Lody’ stands nearby!

Of course no tour of Sopot would be complete without a peek at the Spas which put this once humble fishing village on the map. While the salty air is often enough heal and restore, these spas fill in the gaps. Once reserved for Europe’s aristocratic elite, these bastions of good times and great moods now serve a broader clientele. Take a deep breath and soak up the sites or stop by after your tour for some first class therapy!

We certainly hope you’ll join us for a walk through Sopot, where modernity meets with a thriving past, and you’re sure to be met with a smile!
