This concentration camp to the east of Gdansk, was a site of the Nazi occupation of Poland. What began as a prison camp for Polish dissidents quickly became a terrible, often final destination for victims of Hitler’s Holocaust. Today, a number of the camp’s buildings still stand, a reminder of human cruelty and history. Visitors can walk through the remnants of those buildings, a museum, and a number of trails around the premises where they can catch a glimpse into the past.

Malbork Castle - The biggest brick fortress in Europe
The construction was started in 1274. Between 1309 and 1457 Malbork was a capital of the state governed by the Teutonic Knights and the home of the Grand Master. Malbork is actually three castles nested in one another. The High, Middle and Low Castles are separated by additional dry moats and towers.The castle is a museum now. It contains weapons and Poland's largest collection of amber. In 1997 the castle was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Jewish Community - The echoes of the Jewish world
In Sopot you can still come across plenty of old mansions which were owned by the rich Jewish families. There is also a Jewish cementery.
In Gdansk Wrzeszcz there is an ex-synagogue which is now being used as a music school as well as a Jewish 'GMINA'..
Great synagogue of Gdansk was destroyed by the Germans. The artwork was not damaged and the Germans allowed the 'GMINA' to purchase the artwork and at present they are the pride and joy of the Jewish museum in New York.

Leisurely Gdansk - Have a good time in Gdansk
If you prefer less walking and would enjoy more independent time in Gdansk this excursion is for YOU! Our guide will take you on a short walk through the Old Town in Gdansk, from The Green Gate, then will point out highlights such as the Long Wharf, the impressive architecture of the buildings and Long Market. You will then have approximately one hour of leisure. You can venture further into Old Town for exploration or shopping. At a designated time and place, you will meet your guide for the return walk to the coach or your ship.
